Dear colleagues and partners, We are less than two months away from year’s High-Level Officials Meeting. On October 27th, from 14:00-16:00 CET, we will be hosting an informal briefing to share more information on the programme and modalities of participation. We invite you to join the meeting on Zoom. HLOM Virtual SpaceIn the lead-up to the HLOM, we would like to invite you to share content 'Reflecting progress and charting the future', which will be featured in the Virtual Space for the HLOM. We hope that this library of resources will be useful and offer a variety of examples on the implementation of the Global Compact on Refugees. Please refer to the guidance note if you would like to share content with us. The vital work of NGOsOn October 20th, ICVA and UNHCR hosted an event on ‘NGOs and the Global Refugee Forum: Taking Stock and Looking Forward’, which gave NGOs and Refugee-Led Organisations the opportunity to share their experiences – both successes and challenges – of implementing the pledges they made at the GRF. Today, we're pleased to share stories about some of the pledges made, and projects being implemented by NGOs to help refugees and their host communities become more self-reliant. With sponsorship programmes in Belgium that are helping refugees settle into their new communities; a coalition of NGOs working to lift 500,000 households out of extreme poverty; and a USD 32.5 million investment fund for refugee and host community business loans, the range of projects helping to bring self-reliance to refugees and their host communities is inspiring. Thank you for your continued demonstration of solidarity with those forced to flee and their host communities. GCR Coordination Team @UNHCR |
